China warns: Japan will face severe retaliation if it uses military force to intervene in Taiwan

Beijing (China) – China’s Defence Ministry has warned Japan that if it chooses to use military force to intervene in Taiwan, the consequences will be extremely serious and it will face a strong military response from China. Following this statement, the Japanese Government summoned the Chinese Ambassador in Japan and lodged a strong protest.

Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi had stated in Parliament last week that a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan could threaten Japan’s very existence and may compel Japan to respond militarily. After this statement, Zhu Jian, China’s Consul General in Osaka, shared a news link on social media and posted a harsh comment. As the controversy escalated, he deleted the post.

Japan’s Foreign Ministry termed the comment highly inappropriate, summoned the Chinese Ambassador in Japan, and lodged a stern protest. Some senior Japanese leaders have even demanded the expulsion of the concerned Chinese official.
