Bangladesh denies entry to Zakir Naik, the preacher idolised by jihadi terrorists !

Zakir Naik

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – The interim government of Bangladesh has decided to deny entry to fugitive Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik, an Indian-born figure revered by jihadi terrorists. The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the ‘Law and Order Committee’ under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Officials stated, “If Zakir arrives in Bangladesh, massive crowds could gather, requiring a large deployment of security forces — which is currently not feasible.”

1. Earlier, a private firm named Spark Event Management had announced plans to bring Zakir Naik to Bangladesh at the end of November. However, following the government’s decision, uncertainty now looms over the event.

2. Officials further remarked, “We believe that no country should give refuge to an accused or absconding individual from another nation. India has currently granted asylum to Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.” (Though Bangladeshi officials are well aware of the distinction between political asylum and harbouring a criminal, they seem to be trying to provoke India. The Indian government must teach such Bangladesh a stern lesson ! – Editor)

3. Zakir Naik has been outside India since 2016. Multiple cases have been filed against him for financial irregularities and for delivering inflammatory speeches. He fled India and is currently residing in Malaysia. Several countries have banned his public appearances.

4. Following the 2016 terrorist attack at the Holey Artisan Bakery in Bangladesh, reports emerged that the attackers had been influenced by Zakir Naik’s speeches.

India had demanded Zakir’s extradition if he entered Bangladesh

After reports surfaced about Zakir’s proposed visit, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs officially objected, stating that if Zakir entered Bangladesh, he should be handed over to India.

Sheikh Hasina had also banned his entry

In 2016, the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government had already imposed a ban on Zakir Naik’s entry into Bangladesh.
