Indian businessman shot dead in Canada

Darshan Singh Sahasi

Ottawa (Canada) – Darshan Singh Sahsi (aged 68), an Indian businessman, was shot dead in Abbotsford, Canada. He hailed from Doraha village in Ludhiana district, Punjab, and was the chairman of ‘Canam International’, one of the world’s largest textile recycling enterprises. The motive behind the murder is still unclear. Darshan Singh and his entire family were settled in Canada. He was well known among the local Punjabi community for his financial assistance and social service activities.

Darshan Singh’s son, Arpan, stated that his father had no enmity or disputes with anyone. “We have no idea who committed the murder or why. There were no threats, blackmail attempts, or extortion demands. People approached him daily for help, and he never refused anyone — that’s why he was respected by all,” he said.
