A member of the UN Security Council is a sympathiser of terrorist organisations !

  • External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar criticises China without naming it !

  • When such a United Nations serves no purpose to the world, it is time to lock it up !

New Delhi – The UN’s response to terrorism is a clear example of the challenges it faces today. One of the permanent members of the Security Council openly supports organisations that claim responsibility for dreadful terrorist attacks like the one in Pahalgam. This gravely undermines the credibility of multilateralism, said India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, indirectly criticising China as well as the United Nations. He was speaking on the occasion of the UN’s 80th anniversary.

Equating terrorists with victims is disgraceful !

“In the name of global policy, equating terrorists with their victims is even more deplorable. When individuals who openly declare themselves as terrorists are protected from sanctions, it raises serious questions about the integrity of those involved in such processes,” stated Dr Jaishankar.

Criticism of the UN’s decision-making process

Dr Jaishankar further remarked, “We must acknowledge that all is not well within the United Nations. Its decision-making process neither represents its members adequately nor responds to global priorities. Its discussions have become increasingly polarised, and its functioning has been obstructed. Any meaningful reform is blocked within the very process meant to bring reform. Financial constraints have now become a new concern. Rebuilding the UN while keeping it relevant is one of the greatest challenges before us today.”
