47 officers and employees of Shirdi’s Sai Sansthan booked following Bombay High Court order !

Complaint filed over ₹77 lakh misappropriation in the electrical department by complainant Sanjay Kale !

Ahilyanagar – The Shirdi Police have registered a case against 47 serving and retired officers and employees of the Shri Sai Sansthan in connection with the alleged misappropriation of electrical materials worth ₹77.14 lakh. The case was registered following an order by the Bombay High Court’s Aurangabad Bench.

According to a complaint filed by Sanjay Kale from Kopargaon, the misappropriation took place between 2017 and 2023. The accused allegedly manipulated entries in the “dead stock register” of the Sansthan’s electrical department and, through collusion, misappropriated materials without recording them in the official records.

Earlier, on 23 May 2022, a case of theft involving only ₹22,500 worth of materials had been registered, which, according to the complaint, was an attempt to suppress the larger scam. An internal audit report later revealed that materials worth approximately ₹77.14 lakh were missing, though items worth ₹29.71 lakh were later traced within the Sansthan itself. Subsequently, the Sansthan administration fixed responsibility for the missing materials on 47 individuals. Of these, 39 have deposited the required amount with the Sansthan, while 8 have yet to pay.

Since the Sansthan management did not file a complaint, Sanjay Kale approached the Bombay High Court. Acting on the Court’s order dated 15 October 2025, the Shirdi Police registered the FIR on 17 October.

This is the consequence of Government control over temples ! How did such large-scale misappropriation go unnoticed for so long ? Hindu temples must remain in the hands of devotees !
