1. Girnar Mountain in Gujarat is known as a sacred site associated with Deity Dattatreya and Guru Gorakhnath, the founder of the Nath sect. The vandalism took place at the Gorakhnath Temple, located at an altitude of 1,117 meters, provoking massive outrage among devotees.

3. The mountain, also known as Revatak Parvat, houses many Hindu temples as well as Jain shrines. Devotees must climb nearly 10,000 stone steps to reach the summit. The famous Ambamata Temple is also located on this mountain.

Editorial Perspective

While attacks on Hindu temples continue almost daily, Hindus merely express anger, protest, and then remain silent. Yet, when the religious sentiments of Muslims are hurt, violent protests erupt nationwide with slogans like “Sar tan se juda” (beheading). Look at the recent ‘I Love Muhammad’ incident — it clearly shows this double standard. If someone says that the pitiable condition of Hinduism today is due to the apathy of Hindus themselves and their organizations across India, would that be wrong? It is time Hindus at least unite and raise their voices !
