Sochi (Russia) – The US has imposed a 50% import duty on India as India is buying cheap crude oil from Russia in large quantities. On the one hand, while India is buying oil from Russia, Russia is not importing Indian goods. Russian President Putin has now made a statement in this regard. He said that Russia is now planning to buy agricultural products, medicines and other goods from India in large quantities, so that the trade balance between the two countries is maintained. Russia will have to take steps to end the trade imbalance between the two countries. ‘The Government has been asked to work on this,’ Putin clarified. Putin will also visit India in December this year.

Putin was speaking at an event organized in the city of Sochi. “There has never been any tension or dispute between India and Russia. Russia has been a reliable partner of India since the time of India’s independence,” Putin said.

Putin refers to PM Modi as ‘friend’

Putin further said that India has never forgotten Russia’s support. Even today, the two countries maintain a strong partnership and relationship of trust. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is my friend. Under his leadership, the Government is balanced, sensible and working for the national interest.

President Putin praised India for continuing to buy oil from Russia despite pressure from the United States. Putin said that this decision has not only benefited India economically but also strengthened its image as an independent and sovereign country.

Putin made it clear that Russia is not only fighting with Ukraine, but also with the entire NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a military alliance of 29 countries). Russia is called a ‘paper tiger’; however, Russia alone has outpowered the NATO in the past few days.
