Incident from Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh

Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh) – A raid was conducted on an illegally run madarasa near Pattihaat Chowk in Pehlwara village by Sub-Divisional Officer Ashwini Pandey along with his team. At first, the director refused to open the entrance. Later, the police were called, and the team entered for inspection. During the search, 40 minor girls were found hidden in the toilet.
This action is part of the crackdown against illegal madarasas in districts along the India–Nepal border, following the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Sub-Divisional Officer stated that the madarasa director could not produce any valid documents. When the police entered, 40 girls were found hiding in the toilet. They were immediately taken out and questioned. The girls said that they had come to the madarasa for education. District Minority Welfare Officer Khalid informed that the girls have been handed over to their parents, and since the madarasa lacked valid documents, an order has been issued to shut it down.
Funding source to be investigated !
An inquiry has also been initiated into where the madarasa was receiving its funds from, as there is suspicion that it was being financed on a large scale from external sources.
Editorial PerspectiveIf one madarasa is in such a state of corruption, what must be the condition of others across the country ? And yet, the government continues to fund these institutions — a blatant negligence that cannot be overlooked ! |
