Bangladesh : Three Durga Puja pandals attacked by religious fanatics so far, idols vandalized

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh’s interim Prime Minister Dr Muhammad Yunus visited several areas before Durga Puja this year and assured the Hindu community of security. He had promised to celebrate the festival peacefully and respectfully; however, on the eve of Navratri, religious fanatics vandalized 7 idols, and the vandalism still continues. This has exposed the interim Government’s empty promises.

1. On the first day of Navratri, i.e. on September 22nd, an idol was vandalized at the pandal of Phulhauri Haritla Sarvajaneen in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah District. Police arrested Monjar Ali in this case and later declared him mentally ill.

2. After this, on September 24th, idols were desecrated and clothes on idols were torn in Satkhira District. Although the Police have arrested one person in this case, his details have not been disclosed.

3. So far, 3 idols have been attacked in Jamalpur, Jhenaidah and Satkhira Districts.

700 Durga Puja pandals unsafe in Bangladesh

The ‘Sanatani Jagran Jot Sanghatana’ has claimed that more than 700 Durga Puja pandals across the country are under threat this year. The organization has demanded deployment of the army. Satkhira District, where 55 pandals have been identified, is the most vulnerable.

Will take strict action against those spreading rumours : Bangladesh interim Govt.

The interim Government in Bangladesh threatens Hindus instead of taking action against religious fanatics

Editorial Perspective

This is like punishing the innocent and letting go of the culprit. In Islamic countries, those who attack Hindus are free and those who complain about the attack are punished.

Advisor to the Home Ministry Jahangir Alam Chaudhary tried to convey a message that these are separate incidents and should not be taken seriously. He said that Durga Puja will be celebrated peacefully; but we will take strict action against anyone who spreads rumours. ‘Jahangir Chaudhary’s statement is a threat to Hindus; because instead of condemning this incident and arresting the criminals, the Government has warned the victim Hindus,’ the Hindu community has criticized.

Editorial Perspective

Such things will continue to happen as long as the genocide of Hindus continues in Bangladesh, and the world, including India, will passively watch or ignore them.
