Mockery of Deities by showing the birds and animals that are their vehicles as harassed

Mockery stopped after devout Hindu activist Ritam Bag from Murshidabad (Bengal) warned to take legal action

Post making mockery of different Deities

Kolkata (Bengal) – A few posters were published on the account of ‘banglar_ghorebaire’ on Instagram and Facebook showing that the birds-animals that are the vehicles of Hindu Deities are expressing their distress and pain for being Deities’ vehicles, and thus, using them to ridicule Hindu Deities. Mr Ritam Bag, a devout Hindu activist from Murshidabad (Bengal), warned to take legal action against such accounts when all the posts making mockery of Hindu Deities were removed.

Denigration of Durgadevi by showing Her  vehicle lion having pain in the neck

Methods of Deplorable denigration

1. In the posts insulting Hindu Deities, the lion, the vehicle of Shri Durgadevi, was shown with a strap around his neck since it was paining.

2. The mouse, the vehicle of Shri Ganesh, was shown complaining about his distress for carrying Shri Ganesh.

3. Similarly, Kartikeya’s vehicle, a peacock, Shri Lakshmidevi’s vehicle, a bat, Shri Saraswatidevi’s vehicle, a swan, etc were shown as complaining about their anguish for carrying Deities.

‘Sanatan Prabhat’ contacted Mr Ritam Bag in this connection and discussed the matter with him. He informed that he appealed to the people on their emails who were posting such things to denigrate Deities on social media. Initially, they ignored his appeal. Later, he warned them of taking legal action if making mockery of Deities continued. Then, such insulting posts were withdrawn by the respective accounts. On 17.09.2925, the representatives of Instagram and Facebook tendered an apology to him. He has warned the representative of ‘banglar_ghorebaire’ to avoid such denigration in future.

In Bengal’s adverse environment, such efforts are possible only by the grace of Goddess Kali ! – Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

“The way Ritam acted is an excellent example of how mobile phones in the hands of youth can be effectively used for Dharma-related activities,” said Mr Shambhu Gaware, State Coordinator for Eastern and North-Eastern India of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, while speaking to Sanatan Prabhat. He further said, “If every ‘Gen-Z’ youth shows such awareness and promptness in the mission of Nation and Dharma, they will truly experience their energy and potential being utilised meaningfully. In Bengal’s adverse environment, such efforts are possible only by the grace of Goddess Kali. On behalf of the Samiti, we congratulate Ritam for this act ! The promptness and perseverance with which he acted are worthy of emulation. Along with this, through the banglar_ghorebaire account, the insulting posts were also removed from all accounts respecting Hindu sentiments. We extend our congratulations and gratitude to them as well !”

Editorial Perspectives

  • Hearty congratulations to Ritam Bag who despite staying in a very hostile State for Hindus like Bengal, is ready to fight a legal battle against insult of Deities.
  • Nowadays, there is a competition amongst people to earn name and fame in the shortest time and  with the shortest efforts. The most apt example of it is social media; therefore, Hindu Deities are ridiculed in some way or the other under the guise of presenting something new. It is the outcome of lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’ amongst Hindus.
