Spreading hatred and hurting religious sentiments through films should not be tolerated

New Delhi – Delhi High court has strongly condemned the film which shows hatred, hurts religious sentiments and threatens solidarity of the society. The High Court has clearly stated that such films cannot have any place in civilised and secular society. This comment as made during the hearing of petition filed by the producer of the film ‘Masoom Kaatil’. Central Board of Film Certification i.e. Censor board refused certificate to this film, so, the producer had approached High Court.

This film was first seen by the Delhi Examination committee and later by Mumbai Review Committee on behalf of Censor Board. Both the committees declared it unfit for release in theatres. The film has scenes of bloodshed, brutal violence and consuming human flesh. The film shows how school going teenagers convert into murderers. The film contains insulting comments on religion, caste and dialogues to ignite communal conflict.

The Bench of Justice Manmeet Singh Arora has said, this film which mocks religion, spreads hatred and glorifies bloodshed, cannot be tolerated in a country which has diversity and secularism. ‘Masoom Kaatil’ cannot be released. After this, the Court dismissed Shyam Bharti’s petition.
