20-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped by Trinamool Congress Worker and Friend in Kolkata

Kolkata – In Haridevpur, Kolkata, a 20-year-old girl was gang-raped by two men, one of whom, Debanshu Biswas, is reportedly a worker of the ruling Trinamool Congress. The main accused in the case has been identified as Chandan Malik. Along with Debanshu, he allegedly committed the heinous act.

A case has been registered, and police are currently searching for the two absconding rapists.

Incident Details :

The victim, a law student in the city, became friends with Chandan Malik a few months ago. Chandan claimed to be the head of a prominent Durga Puja committee in South Kolkata. Chandan and his friend Debanshu Biswas promised to include her in the committee’s activities.

Chandan invited the girl to a birthday party, but when she refused, he and Debanshu allegedly forcibly abducted her from her home on the night of 6th September. The two reportedly gang-raped her multiple times and held her captive overnight. The next day, the victim somehow managed to escape and informed her family, who subsequently filed a police complaint.

BJP leader Keya Ghosh and several users on social media have alleged that Debanshu is linked to the Trinamool Congress. According to neighbours, Debanshu is also employed as a Revenue Inspector in the West Bengal Government’s Land Reforms Department.
