“What was the need to put the national emblem on a religious structure ?” : Omar Abdullah

Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s radical statement regarding the removal of the Ashoka emblem at the Hazratbal Dargah in Kashmir

Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) – Recently, the Ashoka emblem placed on a guesthouse at the Hazratbal Dargah was vandalized and removed by certain fanatic Muslims. While this act has been widely condemned, Jammu & Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has, in a way, supported the incident. Abdullah questioned, “What was the need to place the national emblem on the Dargah ?”

Mehbooba Mufti, head of the opposition party PDP and former Chief Minister, has also supported Omar’s statement. (Editor’s note: All these political leaders attempting to undermine Kashmir should be imprisoned for life ! Otherwise, Kashmir will slip away from ‘Hindu Bharat,’ that’s the reality !)

On the other hand, Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta expressed deep sorrow over the vandalism of the Ashoka emblem on the renovation board at the Hazratbal Dargah. He said, “The Ashoka emblem is a symbol of our sovereignty and national pride. Such actions hurt our national sentiments and will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against the perpetrators.”

What is the issue ?

A new guesthouse was recently inaugurated at the Hazratbal Dargah. The renovation board there had the Ashoka Pillar, the national emblem, installed on it. On September 4, some radical Muslims vandalized it with stones, claiming that “the Ashoka Pillar resembles an idol and is against Islam.”

Editorial Perspective

It is a matter of shame for the country that even after 78 years of India’s partition, the descendants of the forces that partitioned the country are still serving as Chief Minister of a state.
