Peter Navarro, a frequent critic of India, slammed by X users

Peter Navarro

New Delhi – U.S. President Donald Trump and his aides have been consistently targeting India over its oil trade with Russia. In this context, U.S. trade adviser Peter Navarro posted on X claiming: “India is buying oil from Russia only to make profits, thereby indirectly financing Russia’s arms industry.” However, many X users strongly opposed Navarro’s statement, replying: “India’s purchase of Russian oil is not just for profit but for energy security, and it does not violate any sanctions. Even the U.S. continues to import certain goods from Russia. Navarro’s stance is therefore hypocritical.”

Dragging Musk into the controversy for no reason

Facing backlash, Navarro unnecessarily dragged X owner and billionaire Elon Musk into the debate, accusing him of “allowing people to spread disinformation through posts.” Musk, once a Trump supporter, has since fallen out with him; prompting Navarro’s attack. Responding to criticism, Navarro said: “India only started buying oil from Russia after the war in Ukraine began, with the sole aim of making profit. Stop killing Ukrainian citizens. Stop swallowing American jobs.”

Navarro’s anti-India obsession

Ever since Trump imposed a 50% tariff on India, Navarro has been constantly spewing venom against India. He has even referred to the Russia-Ukraine conflict as the “Modi war.” Navarro has accused India of turning Russia into a financial hub by purchasing oil, and just days ago he even made the bizarre allegation that “Brahmins are the main beneficiaries of India’s oil trade with Russia.”

Editorial Perspective

Navarro’s repeated attempts to spread lies about India and mislead people have backfired. Not only Navarro, but all the “India-bashers” across the world will inevitably have to face public outrage !
