Jharkhand – In Gadhva district, more than 200 cows being taken for slaughter, were rescued by the Police due to alertness of Bajran Dal activists. On 4th September Bajrang Dal district head, Sonu Singh had tipped off the Police about cow smuggling. (How do the Police fail to get such information when the entire machinery is with them ? – Editor). Bajrang Dal informed the Police that more than 200 cows were being smuggled in heavy vehicles, exceeding their capacity. When the Police and the cow protectors tried to stop the vehicles, they were attacked, however the Police succeeded in rescuing the cows. The cows have been sent to Palamu goshala (cow shelter). The smugglers claimed that owners had sold the cows to them. Police are investigating the matter.
Editorial PerspectiveCow smuggling and slaughtering is a menace spread everywhere. Hence, only the efforts by the cow protectors cannot stop activities of cow slaughters. Like Naxalism, the issue of cow slaughter must be eliminated permanently. |
