Two soldiers killed and one injured in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites

Ranchi – On 4^th September morning, in Palamu dist. Jharkhand, in the jurisdiction of Manatu Police station, an encounter took place between the banned Naxal outfit, ‘Third conference presentation committee’ (TSPC) (a CPIM group) and security force soldiers. During this encounter 2 soldiers, Santan Kumar and Sunil Ram, were killed and one security guard got injured.

Police had the information that the zonal commander of TSPC was likely to attend a festival in Kedal, his village. Shashikant carries a reward of Rs 10 lakhs, based on this information, the Police started special search operation. When the Naxalites came to know about the arrival of the Police near the village, Shashikant Ganju and his gang suddenly opened fire. The Police retaliated. After this encounter the Police have surrounded the entire village, and the search operation has been intensified. There is tight security in the nearby villages.
