Villagers decide not to immerse Ganesh idols until DJs are allowed

The matter of the Karnataka police banning the use of DJs

(DJ is a large sound system)

Byadgi (Karnataka) – Hindus of Mothebennuru in Byadgi taluka of Haveri District decided not to immerse any public Ganesh idols in the village until DJs are allowed.

1.    As usual, the Ganesh idols were to be immersed on August 31, the fifth day of Ganeshotsav; however, the police prevented the DJ sound system from entering Mothebennuru village. Therefore, the angry villagers came together and decided not to immerse the idols of Shri Ganesh.

2. Speaking on this occasion, former MLA Virupakshappa Ballari said that Shri Ganapati is a symbol of Hinduism. The state Government tried to dominate Hindu festivals by refusing permission to play ‘DJs’ during the festival.

3. Hindu leader Shivbasappa Kulenur said that the authoritarian attitude of the Government, patronising minorities, had increased greatly in the state. That was a conspiracy to end Hinduism and Hindu festivals. The imposition of restrictions on ‘DJs’ during Ganeshotsav was an example of that.

4. Leader Nagaraj Onveri demanded that the District Collector should reconsider the order banning ‘DJs’.

5. Leader N.S. Ningappa Battalakatti said that since the Siddaramaiah Government came to power in the state, it has been taking an anti-Hindu stance. A conspiracy is being hatched to destroy Hinduism. (It has become necessary to form a Hindu organisation to stop the attack on Hinduism. – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

Congress Government police, refusing permission to use DJs in public Ganesh idol immersion processions in the name of noise pollution, do they not hear the noise pollution caused by the Azaan given 5 times a day from mosques ?
