  • Next hearing postponed until 2026

Hindu-hater Udhayanidhi Stalin

New Delhi – The Supreme Court observed that it is not inclined to merge the multiple criminal cases filed against Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and a state minister, over his controversial remarks on Sanatan Dharma. However, on the request of senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who represented Udhayanidhi, the court postponed the case until 2026. The matter was heard by a bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta, who also recorded oral observations.

What is the case about?

On 2nd September 2023 — nearly two years ago — Udhayanidhi Stalin had compared Sanatan Dharma to diseases like dengue, malaria, and COVID-19, stating that it must be completely eradicated. These remarks sparked nationwide outrage among Hindus.

Earlier, on 6th March 2024, the Supreme Court had issued directions restraining the initiation of any further criminal proceedings against Udhayanidhi without the court’s prior permission. In the same month, the court had also severely criticized Udhayanidhi for his statements calling for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma.

Editorial Perspective

Udhayanidhi Stalin had earlier made statements calling for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma, and it has now been nearly two years since those remarks. Hence, Hindus across the country expect the Hon’ble Supreme Court to expedite the hearing and deliver strict punishment to Udhayanidhi Stalin.
