India’s indirect criticism of the Pak-China highway

Prime Minister Modi

Beijing (China) – Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the conference, that if highways (‘connectivity’) projects were implemented by ignoring India’s sovereignty, India would ultimately lose ‘trust’ and ‘money’. In this, he indirectly criticised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor passing through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also highlighted India’s Chabahar port in Iran. He said that India always believed that strong highways not only increase visibility, but also promote trust and development. Keeping that in mind, they were working on projects such as Chabahar port and the International North-South Transport Corridor. That would help them improve ‘connectivity’ with Afghanistan and Central Asia. They believed that every effort should be inclusive and respect regional identities.

The leading American newspaper, the ‘Wall Street Journal’, while reporting on the summit in China on September 1, gave the headline, ‘3 of the world’s 4 major powers were currently present in China !’
