On 24th February 2012, Mian Mithu abducted Rinkle Kumari and forcibly converted her. This sparked large-scale protests by Hindus in the Sindh province of Pakistan. The Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo motu cognisance of the matter. The case attracted international media attention. Through this incident, it became evident to the world that “Hindus in Pakistan are subjected to daily atrocities, but these are not even considered crimes there.”
