New Delhi – While Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on his visit to China, before meeting Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to him over telephone. The Prime Minister’s Office informed that Zelensky shared his perspective on the latest developments related to Ukraine. On the other hand, Zelensky himself posted details of the conversation on ‘X’, mentioning his earlier meetings in the USA with American and European leaders. He also reiterated at the Washington meeting that Ukraine is ready for talks with Russian leaders.
Zelensky said –
1. After the 15 August meeting between Putin and Trump in Alaska, no progress was made on a ceasefire agreement with Russia, leading to disappointment. Despite the meeting, Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine.
2. Russia should have shown political readiness, but instead of any signal, it launched shameful strikes on civilian targets, killing many Ukrainian citizens.
3. India is ready to make the necessary efforts and, during bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Shanghai Summit, convey appropriate signals to Russia and other leaders.
