Unable to allocate more resources to Rohingya refugees : Bangladesh Govt urges global support

Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, appeals for global support over Rohingya crisis

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – The Rohingya refugees have increased pressure on Bangladesh’s economy and environment. There are more than 1.3 million Rohingya in the country. It is becoming difficult to provide them with food. This is a big challenge for Bangladesh and the world. The world should come together on this issue and help Rohingya Muslims return to their homes, appealed Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government in Bangladesh.

The Rohingya fled to Bangladesh due to the violence in Myanmar since August 2017. Arrangements have been made for them in Cox’s Bazar District of Bangladesh. Yunus also presented a 7-point plan for the return of the Rohingya.

Rohingyas want to return to Myanmar

Rohingyas living in Cox’s Bazar observed ‘Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day’. They held placards demanding their return home. Representatives of international organizations and administrative officials participated in the event.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Now India should also raise the issue of millions of Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators at the global level and make efforts on war footing to send them back.
  • India has been hosting millions of Bangladeshi infiltrators for many years. The number of infiltrators is increasing every day, while Bangladesh is suffering from only 1.3 million Rohingyas. One cannot imagine how much pressure this must be putting on India.
