4 Syrians looted lakhs of rupees in the name of Gaza Crisis

Ahmedabad (Gujarat)– 4 Syrians collected a large amount of donations in the name of Gaza victims from the mosques here. Instead of sending the funds to Gaza, they were using it for luxurious lifestyle. In this case, the Police have arrested 23-year-old Ali Meghat Al-Azhar from a hotel in Ellis Bridge area. He is from Syrian capital Damascus. The other 3 accused have fled. Police Deputy Commissioner Sharad Singhal said that the Police had seized $ 3, 600 (Rs 3 lakh 14 thousand) and cash Rs 25,000 from the accused.  Zakaria Hytham Aljar, Ahmed Alahabash and Yusuf-Al-Zahar are names of the absconding accused. Efforts are underway to trace them.

Videos of starving families from Gaza were shown in the mosques to ask money

The Police discovered that this group had landed in Kolkata on 22nd July on tourist visa. Later this group reached Ahmedabad on 2nd August. These people showed the videos of starving families from Gaza in the mosques and asked donations from the local Muslims. The Police did not get any evidence of the money reaching Gaza. Prima facie this group appears to be in contact with suspicious people. The Police said.
