Red Alert in 6 districts including Mumbai and Kolhapur, NDRF teams deployed in sensitive areas!
(Red Alert means a warning for extreme vigilance, while Orange Alert indicates a high likelihood of a natural disaster at any time.)

Mumbai – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning in Maharashtra till August 21. A Red Alert has been declared in Mumbai, Raigad, Pune Ghat regions, Satara Ghat regions, Ratnagiri, and Kolhapur districts. An Orange Alert has been issued in Palghar, Thane, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Amravati, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts. NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams have been deployed in Red Alert areas and other sensitive zones.
In the 24 hours up to 11 a.m. on August 18, the highest rainfall recorded in the state was:
· Ratnagiri: 128.9 mm
· Sindhudurg: 101 mm
· Mumbai Suburbs: 99.4 mm
· Raigad: 43.5 mm
· Mumbai City: 38.4 mm
Warning to Fishermen – Stay Out of the Sea!

Till August 20, waves of 3.5 to 4.3 meters are expected in Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Thane, and Ratnagiri districts, while 3.5 to 4.2 meters waves are forecast for Palghar, Raigad, and Sindhudurg. Sea waves may hit the coast with a speed of 50–60 km/h. District administrations have been instructed to evacuate people from coastal areas to safer places. The state government has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea as it will remain turbulent.
Rivers in Konkan Crossed Warning Levels!
In Ratnagiri, the Jagbudi, Shastri, and Kodavli rivers, and in Raigad, the Kundalika river have crossed warning levels. The State Emergency Control Room has instructed local district administrations to remain on high alert.
