The investigation into Colonel Purohit was not about the Malegaon blast, but rather about reports concerning Zakir Naik, Dawood Ibrahim and others

Colonel Shrikant Purohit’s Wife Exposes the Truth Behind the ATS

Mrs. Aparna Purohit

Mumbai – My husband, Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit, was illegally arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), not for his alleged role in the Malegaon blast, but rather to question him about reports related to Zakir Naik, the counterfeit currency network, Dawood Ibrahim and the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Since Colonel Purohit was part of the Army Intelligence, he had prepared reports about these issues between 2005 and 2007. The officers from the ATS interrogated him regarding the sources of these reports, said Aparna Purohit, wife of Colonel Purohit. She revealed this shocking information in an interview given to a newspaper representative. Colonel Purohit has since been acquitted in the Malegaon bomb blast case.

Shocking Revelations Made by Aparna Purohit in the Interview:

1. In 2008, Colonel Purohit undertook a secret mission. Afterward, a conspiracy was plotted against him and he was subjected to third-degree torture. His knee was broken due to the beatings.

2. On 29th October 2008, he was taken into custody illegally. Neither his superiors nor the Army nor his family had any information about his arrest. Everyone was kept in the dark. On 4th November, I was contacted and informed that Colonel Purohit was in custody and asked to appear in Nashik court. Since I was in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, I couldn’t reach Nashik on the same day and couldn’t meet him.

3. Colonel Purohit was physically tortured. We filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission regarding this.

4. He was pressured to admit involvement in the Malegaon bomb blast conspiracy.

5. During the investigation, both Colonel Purohit and a Subedar gave statements that they had seen ATS officer Shekhar Bagde planting RDX. This testimony proved helpful in dismissing the charge that Colonel Purohit had collected RDX. Shekhar Bagde should have been investigated in this matter. Why all this was done must be thoroughly investigated.
