A Complaint Lodged with Governor against Vice Chancellor of ‘Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrut University’ for his imposing himself on others

Splurging money, appointments of own people, disregard for all procedures

-Mr Pritam Nachankar, Mumbai

Mumbai, 8th August – Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrut University (KKSU) is an A+ graded institution at Ramtek, second among the Sanskrut institutions, dedicated to the advanced learning of Sanskrut. The professors from KKSU have complained to the Chancellor Governor C P Radhakrishnan about the anarchic and dictatorial management of KKSU’s Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Hareram Tripathi. There are serious accusations against him such as misuse and splurging money of KKSU, appointments of his own people not following the required procedure, etc. The complaint was made on 21.07.2025 to the Governor and its copy has been forwarded to Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis and Higher and Technical Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil. Considering the serious allegations, we will have to wait and watch the action the Governor and State Government will take to maintain the reputation of KKSU.

Is KKSU moving towards anarchy ?

The behaviour of VC Prof Hareram Tripathi is damaging for the reputation and tradition of KKSU. In the serious complaint lodged by professors, they have mentioned that there has been no past history of students taking out marches against the management of the university; but during the regime of Prof Hareram Tripathi, there have been protests and demonstrations. It is a sign of anarchy.

Who are the complainants ?

Dean Prof Kavita Hole, Prof Kalapini Agasti, Prof Harekrishna Agasti, Director Prasad Gokhale, Department in-charge Prof Parag Joshi, dy Registrar Dr Smita Fadanvis, assistant Registrar Mrs Kalyani Deshkar, and public relations officer Dr Renuka Bokare have lodged the complaint.

Serious allegations against the Vice Chancellor

Appointments made the way he pleased without following the procedure

1. For appointment of Dr Devanand Shukla as registrar, who is in his relation, advertisement was published second time by rejecting all candidates who applied for the post after the first advertisement was published.

2. The tenure of appointment of registrar was one year but he was again given charge of finance and auditing without following any procedure.

3. One driver can be appointed to serve the VC. There was already one driver but the VC, without following any procedure like giving advertisements etc., and without taking permission of the concerned authority, he appointed a person from his native place as driver and he is paid more salary than the earlier driver.

4. Decision for appointment of departments- in- charge of post degree of the university by disregarding the Dean and rules.

5. By entering into contract with institutions known to him in the name of educational harmony contract, misusing leave and money.

6. After getting approval from the Government and Managing Council, the procedure of regular recruitment was delayed by two years.

7. The posts of professors approved by the managing council in Gurukul have not yet been filled up.

8. A specialist professor is selected as the Chairman of the study committee from departments of the university or affiliated college as per the rules of the university; however, the VC appointed professors from Delhi, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Haryana, Vardha, and Bhopal by disregarding the university rules. There were department chiefs from the respective departments of the university; still, professors not related to the subject were appointed from outside Maharashtra as department chiefs.

Accusations of splurging money

1. Without taking prior permission, the VC spent Rs 2 crores on his house at Ramtek and office at his residence.

2. General Funds of the university have been kept as personal deposits in  a private bank.

3. The vehicles of the university are being regularly used by family members other than the VC.

Total disregard shown to all procedures !

1. A personal marriage ceremony was held in the premises of the university. On the wedding invitation card, the address of the university was written as the venue of the wedding; but it was later changed after opposition by teachers and officers.

2. It is mandatory to hold at least 4 regular meetings in a year of the managing council as per the rules of the university; but 1-2 meetings are held and works are kept pending.

3. The increase in salary approved by the managing council for the teachers in Gurukul was not granted and they were mentally harassed.

Professors appeal to Governor for meeting

The professors seeking a meeting with the Governor have appealed to him that there is no personal gain or hatred behind the complaint but the only purpose is progress of the university. They have also demanded formation of a committee at Governor’s level to inquire into all malpractices and they wish to have an early meeting to explain the situation in detail.

Marathi language is disregarded

The VC and secretary cannot speak or write in Marathi; therefore, the Government correspondence and work doesn’t happen in Marathi. Marathi is not used in meetings of the authority and their transactions. The Registrar’s post is an administrative post and he is expected to learn Marathi as per the Government’s policy; but while appointing him, the condition of learning Marathi in six months has been removed, claimed the professors in their complaint submitted to the Governor.

VC Prof Hareram Tripathi refutes all charges !

‘Sanatan Prabhat’ contacted Prof Tripathi to know his opinion on the complaint when he refuted all accusations. Prof Tripathi explained, “We all are working together. Such accusations spoil the name of the University. On the wedding card, somebody gave the address of the University but that was not opposed by anyone. In Varanasi, wedding ceremonies are held in the premises of that university; therefore, it was done; however, such practice is not here held; therefore, the ceremony was outside. Another driver was appointed because in case one driver remains absent, the other driver is required. He is not from my native place.”

Editorial Perspective

The government and administration should pay attention to these malpractices. The deans and faculty members lodging the complaint are not only responsible individuals but also those who hold a deep regard for Sanskrit. It is expected that their allegations will be verified and action will be taken against the guilty.
