106 deaths in Himachal Pradesh as heavy rains wreak havoc in North India

Amarnath Yatra suspended for a day

New Delhi – Heavy rains have been lashing various parts of the country for the past month. In the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh alone, 106 people have died. Incidents of cloudbursts there have caused damage to government and private property worth more than ₹800 crore.

Miserable situation in Delhi and the National Capital Region

Heavy rains have been continuing in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) for the past week. Due to bad weather, six flights scheduled to land at Delhi airport on July 16 had to be diverted.

Landslide in Assam

A landslide occurred during the construction of a national highway in Dima Hasao in Assam. Two people were killed and five others were injured.

Floods and Lightning strikes occur in Bihar

There is flooding in many low-lying areas of the Nalanda district in Bihar. The water level of the Falgu River here is continuously rising. Moreover, on July 16 alone, 20 people were killed due to lightning strikes in various districts.

Shri Amarnath Yatra has also been suspended due to heavy rains!

Shri Amarnath Yatra has been suspended for a day due to a heavy rain warning issued in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. There has been continuous rain here. No thoroughfare was allowed on both routes of the Shri Amarnath Yatra on July 17. The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir said that the Y/’atra will resume from July 18, depending on the weather conditions. So far, 2 lakh 47 thousand pilgrims have visited the holy cave.
