Gang operated like the Islamic State

According to investigators, the gang operated in a waysimilar to that of the Islamic State. Members of the group played different roles to carry out illegal activities, including fundraising for religious conversion and Love Jihad, providing shelter, promoting radicalisation, and conducting forced conversions. Police Commissioner Kumar confirmed that the group was emulating ISIS’s methods in their conversion tactics. Among the 10 arrested individuals, one is a woman.

Action taken under ‘Mission Asmita’

Taking the seriousness of the case into account, Uttar Pradesh Police deployed special task forces and anti-terror units to fast-track the investigation. The action has been taken under the ‘Mission Asmita’ initiative launched by the Yogi Adityanath-led Government. This mission aims to crack down on illegal conversions, radicalisation, Love Jihad, and foreign-funded activities that threaten national security.

Editorial Perspectives

  • How did law enforcement and intelligence agencies fail to detect such widespread activities across 6 states ? This is shameful.
  • While there are numerous examples of radical Muslims ruining the lives of Hindu girls, why are those who claim ‘Love Jihad doesn’t exist’ now silent ?
  • Despite laws against Love Jihad and forced conversion in Uttar Pradesh and other states, radicals seem unafraid. Incidents like this prove that strict and impactful action is needed to stop them.
