Prime Minister Netanyahu expresses regret

Tel Aviv (Israel) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences over the July 17th tank attack on the only Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza that killed three people, including a priest, and injured nine others.


More than 600 displaced people had taken refuge in this church. Netanyahu discussed this with US President Donald Trump over the phone. Netanyahu said that the attack was accidental. In this attack, a shell hit the church.

The Israeli military claims that it made every effort to protect civilians and religious sites from destruction.

Condolences from Pope Leo (XIV)

The Vatican described the attack as a military attack and expressed condolences on behalf of Pope Leo (XIV). The Pope prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead and for the wounded.
