Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred with Ghana’s second highest national award

Accra (Ghana) – Prime Minister Modi, who is currently on a visit to the West African country of Ghana, was conferred with Ghana’s second highest national award by Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama. The award is called ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’. The Ghanaian Government said that the Prime Minister was given this honor for his administrative and global leadership.

After receiving the award, Prime Minister Modi said, “I thank the people and Government of Ghana. I dedicate this award to the future of the youth of both countries, their aspirations, our rich cultural diversity and the historical ties between the two countries.” Modi also assured that India will always stand with Ghana and will always support Ghana as a friend and a partner in development.

Until 2008, this award was Ghana’s highest national award; however, the ‘Grand Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana’ was later declared the highest award.
