Mumbai becomes free of loudspeakers

  • Commendable performance of Mumbai Police:

  • Loudspeakers from 1,500 religious structures removed

Mumbai – The Mumbai Police have removed the loudspeakers from 1,500 buildings of different religions in the city. This action was taken under the leadership of Police Commissioner Deven Bharti. With this, Mumbai city has become loudspeaker-free. This is the first time that religious places in Mumbai have been made free of loudspeakers. Reportedly, the Mumbai Police did not publicize the action.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also reviewing the drive every day. He was personally talking to those who were creating obstacles in it.

Regarding this, Police Commissioner Deven Bharti said, “For the last 2 months, we have been holding discussions and meetings with political and religious leaders of all religions, as well as members of various political parties, for the removal of loudspeakers. Officers from various Police stations participated in the drive. I am particularly happy that people of all religions have exhibited harmony.”

Earlier, MNS President Raj Thackeray had also given the Government a deadline to remove the loudspeakers from mosques.

Editorial Perspective

The Police must also keep a watch on whether the loudspeakers are reinstalled on these structures after some time.
