Pakistan’s Deputy PM and Foreign Minister had earlier sent a nomination letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee
Islamabad (Pakistan) – After Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir met US President Donald Trump in Washington and demanded a Nobel Peace Prize for him, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also sent a formal recommendation to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Norway. However, following the recent American attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites, Pakistani leaders are now urging their own Government to reconsider and withdraw this recommendation.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, raised this issue in his party meeting, stating, “Trump’s so-called peace credentials have proven false. His name must be withdrawn. He has openly supported Israeli aggression in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran. How can such a person be called a promoter of peace?”
Former MP Mushahid Hussain said, “Trump is no peace envoy; he is a warmonger who has deliberately instigated conflict. The Pakistani Government must now reconsider its earlier decision to back Trump’s Nobel nomination.”
Editorial PerspectivePakistan has no consistent foreign policy of its own. On one hand, it sponsors terrorism in India in the name of Islam, and on the other, it positions itself against fellow Islamic nations like Afghanistan and Iran. It remains silent on China’s atrocities against Muslims. When will Pakistan-loving Muslims in India wake up to this reality ? |
