OIC urges India not to suspend Indus Waters Treaty – but stays silent on Pakistan’s terrorism !

Istanbul (Türkiye) – In a meeting held on June 22, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), comprising 57 Islamic nations, called on both India and Pakistan to uphold the Indus Waters Treaty and other bilateral agreements. The statement was issued during the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers conference.

The OIC expressed “concern” over recent military operations in South Asia, alleging that India carried out multiple attacks inside Pakistan. It appealed to both countries to exercise restraint and avoid aggressive postures. The organisation emphasized that the Indus Waters Treaty should not be suspended and urged both nations to continue honouring their longstanding agreements.

The OIC further reiterated its support for human rights in Kashmir, citing the United Nations Security Council resolutions, OIC’s own declarations, and what it claimed to be the will of the Kashmiri people.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar attended the meeting, accompanied by Pakistani Army Field Marshal Asim Munir, who also met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

While the OIC calls for treaty compliance and restraint from India, it remains conspicuously silent on Pakistan’s continued role in sponsoring cross-border terrorism—a glaring omission that questions the organisation’s credibility and impartiality.

Why doesn’t the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation ever ask Pakistan to stop exporting terrorism into India ?
