Mother wails for justice as Pakistan continues to fail its minorities
Islamabad, Pakistan – In a horrifying incident from Shahdadpur in Sindh province, four Hindu siblings — Zia Bai (22), Diya Bai (20), Disha Bai (16), and their younger brother Harjeet Kumar (13) — were abducted and forcibly converted to Islam. The local Hindu community has erupted in protest, while their mother, in tears, pleads for justice. “Children this young cannot even comprehend religion,” she cried, appealing to Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to intervene.
The children’s mother accused local computer teacher Farhan Khaskheli of luring the siblings away with false promises.
According to Pakistani media reports, following family protests, the children were presented before a court in Shahdadpur. The two adult sisters were sent to a shelter home, while the underage sister and brother were handed back to their parents. However, Pakistani media falsely reported that all four converted to Islam “willingly and without pressure.” The family maintains the children were terrified and acted under police coercion.
