British Air Force’s F-35 fighter jet makes emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – An F-35 fighter jet of the British Royal Air Force made an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on 14th June. The decision was taken due to low fuel during a routine mission over the Indian Ocean.

The British aircraft was flying from a British aircraft carrier stationed in the Indian Ocean. The pilot made several attempts to land the plane on the warship; however, adverse sea conditions and strong winds made it unsafe to land. At the same time, considering the low fuel level, the pilot contacted the Indian Air Traffic Controller and requested emergency clearance to land the aircraft in the nearest civil airspace. The plane was then allowed to land at Thiruvananthapuram Airport.
