Kolkata: Wajahat Khan arrested for insulting Goddess Kamakhya and Shrikrushna

Khan had filed a complaint against Sharmishtha Panoli

Kolkata (Bengal) – Kolkata Police recently arrested Wajahat Khanin a case of hate speech insulting Goddess Kamakhya and Shrikrushna. Khan had earlier filed a complaint against Pune-based law student Sharmishtha Panoli.

1. Wajahat Khan had filed a complaint in Kolkata against Gurugram resident Sharmishtha Panoli for alleged remarks against ‘Operation Sindoor’ and Prophet Mohammad. Sharmistha was then arrested by the Kolkata Police.

2. During this period, complaints were filed against Wajahat Khan in Assam and Delhi after it was revealed that he had insulted Hindu Gods and Goddesses earlier. After this, the Kolkata Police also registered a case against him. Assam Police registered a case against Wajahat Khan for insulting Goddess Kamakhya. After that, a team of Assam Police reached Kolkata to arrest Wajahat Khan. It was also revealed that Assam Police were attacked there. 3. Assam Police may bring Wajahat Khan to Assam on transit remand after Kolkata Police arrest him.

4. Subodh Das, the North Kolkata District President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, had filed a complaint against Wajahat Khan. Advocate Vineet Jindal from Assam and Advocate Amita Sachdeva from Delhi, had also filed complaints against Khan with the Delhi Police.
