Dr Vijaylata Rastogi from Rajasthan receives Patent for Havan Therapy

Medical treatment through Havan gains official recognition

Ajmer (Rajasthan) – Dr Vijaylata Rastogi from the Department of Microbiology at Ajmer Medical College has been granted a patent for a medical treatment method based on Havan (ritualistic fire offering). The granting of this patent confirms the scientific validity of this therapy.

Key Findings from her Research:

• After years of research, Dr Rastogi has demonstrated that the smoke produced by medicinal herbs and natural substances used in Havan has the ability to destroy certain harmful bacteria.
• Specific Havan ingredients possess antibacterial properties that directly impact bacteria responsible for infectious diseases.

How is Havan-Based Therapy Administered ?

Patients are placed in a specially designed chamber where a Havan is conducted. The therapeutic smoke fills the room, and the patient inhales it. This exposure is believed to affect harmful bacteria within the patient’s body. The Government of Rajasthan has allocated funding for the development and implementation of this treatment method in the state budget.

What Do Scientists Say?

According to studies conducted by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Havan can reduce the number of harmful airborne microbes by up to 94%. This significantly lowers the risk of air-borne diseases in homes and hospitals.

Various other studies have also confirmed that Havan helps purify the environment and reduce the microbial load in the vicinity where it is performed.

Previously, Rajasthan’s Education Minister Madan Dilawar had stated that adding 10 grams of clarified butter (ghee) from indigenous cows to a Havan can generate one ton of oxygen. Today, this claim finds scientific validation.
