12 Naxals with a bounty of crores surrender

C-60 soldiers felicitated

Gadchiroli, Maharashtra – Kawande on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border is a remote and Naxal-affected village. 12 Naxals, who had a reward of crores on their head, have surrendered with their weapons. This is the first such incident of surrendering with weapons. On this occasion, they handed over the AK-103, A.S.M.I. pistols, and bulletproof jackets to the Government. They also handed over their bulletproof vehicles to the Police. On this occasion, C-60 soldiers were also felicitated in a program organised here. (C-60 is a Police force specially created to kill Naxals.)

1. These surrendering Naxals were given a copy of the Indian Constitution.

2. A mass wedding ceremony of 13 Naxals who had recently surrendered was also held here. On this occasion, Chief Minister Fadnavis had said that I visited this village and interacted with the villagers. The Police set up a police station here in one day. This is not just a police station, but an initiative to reach the Government and administration to the people. In the last 2 years, 6 police stations were built here. In the last one and a half years, 28 Naxals were killed. 31 Maoists were arrested, while 44 people surrendered. I also saw the place where the Naxals were hiding today. The police showed skill and killed 4 Naxals in a place where their heads would have sunk in water. Naxal recruitment had completely stopped in Maharashtra for 4 years. Home Minister Amit Shah took very strict steps for this and now Naxalism is on the verge of ending.

Editorial Perspective

Similarly, efforts on a war footing are also needed to eliminate the sleeper cell terrorism that has arisen at the root of India.
