Statement of the Chairman, Executive Board of the Indonesian Nehdlatul Ulama

Jakarta (Indonesia) – “It is true that some groups in Islam promote violence in the name of Islam. Islam is a peaceful religion. Muslims want peace. I told the MPs who came from India that the biggest victims of terrorism are not Hindus, Buddhists or Christians, but Muslims. Therefore, Muslims need to deal with this issue properly,” said KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Nehdlatul Ulama. Indian delegations are traveling to many countries to provide information about Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. A delegation has also reached Indonesia. This delegation was talking to news agency ‘ANI’ after meeting KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla.

There will be no economic and political stability without eliminating terrorism
Abshar Abdalla further said that the people of South Asia want peace and harmony. Economic and political stability cannot come without eliminating terrorism. If people do not have a proper understanding of religion and it is being used to legitimize violence, then it is a dangerous situation. The history of Indonesia is linked to the history and culture of India.
