Actor Kamal Haasan’s controversial statement sparks reactions in Karnataka

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) – Actor and founder of the political party ‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ (Centre for Justice for the People), Kamal Haasan, is set to release his film Thug Life. At an event held in this context, Kamal Haasan made a statement referring to Kannada actor Shivrajkumar, saying, “The Kannada language originated from Tamil.”

2.Kannada supporter groups like the Kannada Rakshana Vedike have condemned Kamal Haasan’s comment. Protesters tore down posters of Thug Life in Bengaluru.
3.Praveen Shetty, leader of the Kannada Rakshana Vedike, said, “If you want to do business in Karnataka, do not make such insulting remarks. We warn you directly — your film will be banned in Karnataka.”
