Date of ‘Parva-Snan’ to be declared in the presence of CM on 1st June 2025

‘Simhastha Kumbha Mela’ at Nashik in 2027

Nashik – ‘Simhastha Kumbha Mela’ is to be held at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar in 2027. The dates of ‘Parva-Snan (holy baths)’ will be declared in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis when 26 representatives of 13 ‘Aakharas’ and Sadhu-Saints from Nashik and Trimbakeshwar will also be present. Although the State Administration held many meetings for the reparation and planning of ‘Kumbha Mela’, the dates of ‘Raj-Yogi-Snan’ and ‘Parva-Snan’ were yet to be declared, leading to some discontent amongst Sadhu-Mahants. It is reported that the delay in the declaration of holy baths has been due to the absence of a guardian minister for the Nashik district.

As a time of cosmic alignment, ‘Trikhand’ yoga is coming after 75 years. Every 12th  year, ‘Kumbha Mela’ is held in Nashik when Jupiter enters ‘Simha-rashi (zodiac sign)’ and the holy bath is taken at Nashik. On 31.10.2026, at 12.02 noon, Jupiter will enter Simha-rashi. Kumbha-Parva will start with flag-hoisting; therefore, the first ‘Parvani-snan’ will be held in August 2027 at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. Kumbha-Parva will not end after 13 months as Jupiter moves back twice to the previous rashi. On 24.07.2028, at 3.36 p.m., Jupiter will go to the next rashi; therefore, the ‘Kumbha-flag’ will be brought down. As at Prayagraj, Mahakumbha Mela was held after 144 years; similarly, ‘Trikhand-Yoga’ will be celebrated after about 75 years. This Kumbha Mela will go on till 2028. This time, ‘Kumbha Mela’ will last till 2028 for 28 months during which there will be 40-42 auspicious holy baths, as informed by ‘the Purohit Sangh’.

What is the significance of the Nashik Kumbha Mela ?

‘Purna’ Kumbha Mela is held in India at one of the four locations of pilgrimage, viz. Nashik (Trimbakeshwar), Prayagraj, Ujjain and Haridwar, marking a complete cycle of planetary alignments in 12 years. In 1956, a similar ‘Kumbha Mela’ was held; therefore, this year’s ‘Kumbha Mela’ has an extraordinary importance. ‘Kumbha Mela’ is a major Hindu pilgrimage festival, and nobody is officially invited to attend; still, millions of devotees participate in these celebrations with a lot of enthusiasm. ‘Rajyogi Snan’ has a special significance in ‘Kumbha Mela’. In this holy bath, water is offered through making cups with hands to the Sun-God and the river is worshipped. During this ‘snan’, Sadhu-Mahants from different ‘Aakharas’ take out a procession with a lot of pomp and fanfare and ‘Rajyogi’ have a dip in the river. Sadhus-Mahants get the first honour of taking a bat,h and after their holy bath, devotees have a bath in the river. ‘Simhastha Kumbha Mela’ is held at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, taking into account the overall management. ‘Vaishnavas’ have baths at Nashik and Shaiva-devotees have baths at Trimbakeshwar, informed Mr Pratik Shukla, the coordinator of ‘Nashik Purohit Sangh’.
