Suspicion of espionage; investigation underway by Anti-Terrorism Squad

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – A worker at an industrial unit in the city, Umar Sheikh Gaffar, has been arrested for writing ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in saffron paint on a machine. Following this act, a case of sedition has been registered against him at MIDC CIDCO Police Station. During a search of his residence, Police found 2 SIM cards, 4 to 5 SIM card covers, and bank passbooks. The Police are currently investigating whether Umar has any links to terrorist or other suspicious organisations.
1. On 19 May, Umar Sheikh Gaffar was working at the unit. At around 11 p.m., Sujit Tandure from the company informed Security Officer Ashok Dhawale that someone had written ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in saffron paint on the Image Marking Machine No. 952 in the Disc Assembly section.
2. This incident was then reported to the company management. However, the writing was suddenly erased. A probe was launched to identify who had wiped it out.
3. It was then revealed that the act was committed by Sheikh Umar. When questioned, he casually laughed and said, “I did it for fun.” However, he avoided giving further details. (An individual like Umar, who attempts to cover up the act when cornered, must be dealt with strict punishment. – Editor)
4. Upon investigation, it was found that various apps had been used on his mobile phone. Police are now probing whether he has been in contact with any suspicious entities.
5. Sheikh Umar is currently studying in the third year of B.Com. at Kohinoor College in Khultabad. His parents work as labourers, and he has a younger brother. Police are conducting further inquiries about his background.
Editorial PerspectiveThis incident yet again shows that India faces a greater threat from internal enemies than external ones. Those who reside in India yet harbour affection for Pakistan must be sentenced to life imprisonment or permanently deported to Pakistan. There is no place in India for fanatics who show love for the nation’s enemies. |
