‘Operation Sindoor’ to be included in the curriculum of the Uttarakhand Madarasas

Decision of the Uttarakhand Madarasa Board

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – The Uttarakhand Madrasa Board has decided to introduce ‘Operation Sindoor’ in its curriculum across the state, a move that will see students learning about the recent military operation. This decision was announced after Uttarakhand Madrasa Board’s President Mufti Shamoon Qasmi met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Qasmi said –

1. Uttarakhand is the land of the brave and the valiant and the children of Uttarakhand have great Nationalistic spirit. So, we feel that the Madarasa children too should take inspiration from the stories of bravery and valour of our armed forces. ‘Operation Sindoor’ is an example of the same.

2. Uttarakhand has about 541 recognised Madarasas. About 50,000 students’ study in them. ‘Operation Sindoor’ will be a new chapter added to its curriculum. For this a special committee will be constituted. It will include Educationists, Historians, and Madarasa education specialists. They will decide which class will be taught this and how deep and detailed will be the topic taught to them.

3. This decision is not Political it is inspired by a feeling of Nationalism and Education. It is important that the children are not given only religious education, but that they are taught our history, culture and the spirit of dedication towards these attributes of our country. It is important that they be aware of these facts.

Editorial Perspective

The Madarasas have been centre of Anti-national and Hinduphobic activities, whether they are recognised or unrecognised Madarasa; hence though the decision to include ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the curriculum is a praiseworthy decision it is to be seen how well they implement it and what will be the reaction of the students and teachers to this topic.
