US President Donald Trump’s appeal to ‘Apple’ company !
Doha (Qatar) – Since assuming office as President of the United States, Donald Trump has focused heavily on American trade policy. Rather than engaging in war or military interventions abroad, he is concentrating on increasing trade. Against this backdrop, he has urged the American company ‘Apple’ to manufacture its ‘iPhones’ in the USA instead of India. Trump himself disclosed this while speaking in Doha.
Apple should not set up factories in India
President Trump said, “Yesterday, I spoke to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook. I told him, ‘Tim, we have treated you very well. I hear you are setting up factories in India. If you want to help India, that’s fine; but India is one of the highest-taxing countries in the world. It’s difficult to sell there. India has given us a proposal that it will not impose any taxes on American goods. You have already set up factories in China, which we have tolerated for years. Now, I don’t think you should set up factories in India. India can take care of itself. They are doing very well. We want you to build factories in America.’
Trump believes that large companies like Apple should invest in America so that jobs are created there. Apple is already manufacturing iPhones in India with the cooperation of companies like Foxconn and Tata. By 2025, 15% of iPhones made in India will be exported to the USA.

Claims 🇮🇳 agreed to zero tariffs🔍 Truth is — no country wants its industries to boost jobs abroad. But let’s get real: with this mindset, #Donaldtrump is NO friend of India!#IndiaWillRespond टिम कुकpic.twitter.com/tPUbVvwWoC

Any trade agreement should be mutually beneficial
Regarding India-US trade talks, Foreign Minister Dr Jaishankar told reporters these are complex discussions. Nothing is finalized until everything is confirmed. Any trade agreement should be mutually beneficial and work for both countries. We can expect this from trade agreements. Until that happens, it would be premature to make any decisions.
Editorial PerspectiveNo country would want its companies to set up factories in other countries, that is exactly what Trump is saying. Even so, Trump cannot be considered a true friend of India, as evident from this and his other stances ! |
