Vatican – A new Pope was elected in the conclave of Cardinalsat the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican on 8th May. 69 year old American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevostwas elected as the 267th Pope. He is the first American Cardinal to become a Pope. He has chosen the name ‘Pope Leo XIV’ for himself. Donald Trump, President of USA congratulated Cardinal Robert Prevoston becoming the Pope. 45,000 people gathered in the Vatican broke into applause at the appointment of the new Pope.
Be kind to others – Pope
After being appointed, Pope Leo XIV addressed the people in Spanish from the balcony of Saint Peter’s Basilica. He appealed to the people to offer kindness to others and to lead a life of love. The new Pope also wished that peace reside in every heart.
