Prashant Kamble is a Naxal activist from Anis

Khalapur (Dist. Raigadh) – Prashant Kamble, a worker for ANiS was a naxal who had named himself Sunil Chandrakant Kamble. He had an Aadhaar Card on this name. ATS (Anti- terrorist squad) has arrested this Naxal who was absconding for last 8 years. His Aadhaar Card bears the address of Khanav village, he has also participated in voting, informed the Khalapur village Sarpanch Sandesh Patil.

1.For last 8 years Naxal Prashant Kamble was living in Khalapur, Raigarh Dist. He owned a shop for Laptop, TV, computer repairs. He would visit the nearby tribal sectors and distribute notebooks, snacks, uniforms etc to the children. He would also teach them. He was an ANiS worker.

2.People used to call him ‘Sir’. Everyone knew him as a social worker and was popular. He had fixed computers in 13 Gram Panchayats.

3.Khalapur village Sarpanch Sandesh Patil said, “we are shocked to know that a Naxal was living among us. He was an active member of ANiS. We had asked him about his permanent address. He would travel to Pune and Mumbai to bring spare parts for the repair of computers. He owned 3-4 shops. He would visit all surrounding areas for his social work. People used to welcome him. He had also received an award for the social work he had done for ‘Seva Foundation’. We are co- operating with the Police.”

Editorial Perspective

A few years ago, State government had announced a list of Naxal Organisations. ANiS was also included in the list. The arrest of a worker of ANiS is a proof that ANiS is an organisation involved with Naxal activities. Why doesn’t the government ban such anti-social organisation ?
