200-year-old cemetery to be converted into cattle market
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – An under-construction Hindu temple and a 200-year-old cemetery were demolished to set up a live animal market in Uchakhila Union of Mymensingh District.
1. Hindus allege that Ishwarganj Sub-District Administrative Officer Mohammad Ershadul Ahmed forcibly demolished a Hindu temple and cemetery. He also announced that the cemetery would be shifted to another location.
2. Hindu leader Pintu Chaudhary said that this cemetery and temple are symbols of our faith and they cannot be shifted at any cost. Followers of Sanatan Dharma are extremely angry about this incident and that is why they are protesting on the streets.

3. Another local Hindu leader, Paresh Saha, said that an Islamist group is threatening to evict Hindus from the area; but the Government is not taking any action against it.
4. Bijoy Mitra Shubho, secretary of Bangladesh Puja Ujapan Morcha, said that Hindus had already demanded to stop the demolition; but still the administration did not take any action.
5. However, officer Mohammad Ershadul Ahmed has said that the incident happened unintentionally.
