Tamil Nadu ministers Ponmudi and Senthil Balaji resign after the Supreme Court’s order

Tamil Nadu Minister V. K. Senthil Balaji and K. Ponmudi

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) – Tamil Nadu Ministers V Senthil Balaji and K. Ponmudi have resigned from their position. Governor RNRavi has accepted their resignations. Ponmudi had created a controversy by making obscene remarks on Shaiva-Vaishnava tilak over physical relations.

Senthil Balaji was granted bail by the Madras High Court in a case related to the job money scam. Just two days later, Chief Minister Stalin made him a minister again. A bench headed by SC judges Justice Abhay Oka and Justice A G Masih said that Balaji was granted bail as he had promised to resign as a minister. If Balaji remains a minister, he can influence witnesses. Therefore, if he remains a minister, his bail will be cancelled.

Editorial Perspective

It is shameful for the parties who speak of ‘protecting the Constitution’ to require a Court order to remove scamsters and those making vulgar statements from the ministerial position.
