“There have been terrorist attacks before too – so why talk about religion only now ?” : Rants Sharad Pawar

  • Sharad Pawar’s Hypocrisy on Terror and Religion Exposed

  • Sharad Pawar of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) claims

Mumbai – Speaking about the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Pawar said: “There were attacks before—like Pulwama—yet religion wasn’t brought up then. Why now ? What happened is unfortunate and must be dealt with firmly, but we shouldn’t allow religion to become an obstacle.”

This was in response to a direct question: “Does the Pahalgam attack feel like a religious war?” Instead of confronting the issue, Pawar chose deflection over truth.

Editorial Perspectives

  • But is Pawar truly ignorant of the fact that religion has been at the center of India’s political discourse for decades — especially in a country that proudly calls itself secular ? Or is he playing naïve just to dodge the uncomfortable religious truths behind terror incidents?
  • Let’s not forget : it was Sharad Pawar and his faction who heavily pushed the controversial “Saffron Terror” narrative — vilifying Hindus and painting them as extremists. Where was Pawar’s concern for communal harmony back then ? Why didn’t he question the religious angle when his own party was busy demonizing one community ?
  • And here’s a reality he refuses to address: “Terror has no religion” may be the slogan — but incident after incident has shown that most terrorists turn out to be Muslims. Why is Pawar silent about this recurring fact ?
