New Delhi – In a case related to a bounced cheque, the accused and his lawyer allegedly threatened to kill a female judge after she found the accused guilty. The incident took place in the courtroom of Metropolitan Magistrate Shivangi Mangla in Delhi. The incident occurred on April 22 during a hearing of the case.
1. After the judge pronounced the accused guilty and ordered him to submit a bail bond until the next hearing, the accused and his lawyer reportedly said to the judge: “Who do you think you are ? Meet us outside. Let’s see how you make it home alive.”
2. Taking things even further, the accused and his lawyer demanded that the judge resign. They also brazenly told the judge that if she did not step down, a complaint would be filed against her.
3. Judge Shivangi Mangla stated in her order that the matter has been referred to the District and Sessions Court and will further be forwarded to the Delhi High Court. Action will be taken against both individuals. The National Commission for Women will also take necessary steps in this matter.
4. The court has also issued a show cause notice to the accused’s lawyer, Atul Kumar, asking why criminal proceedings should not be initiated against him for misconduct towards a woman.
Editorial PerspectiveThis incident clearly reflects the deteriorating state of law and order and moral values in India. When will such individuals be punished, and when will criminals start fearing the law ? |
